I just got this from Brad Mitchell at Farm Bureau. There is concern that
movement of colonies for pollination might be impacted. Any thoughts?

Hello,
I was forwarded this message by Crystal Card who chairs our apiary
committee. She is concerned about the impact of the proposed inspection
process on migratory bees. If there is a concern with this, it would
obviously impact those who rely on pollination services..
Mo/Dan/Wes - can you forward this to the appropriate person or list-serve
at MA Fruit Growers.
Katie/Chris - can you do the same at NEVBGA..
I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have.
Hi All,
In an effort to be transparent and keep you updated on the progress of the
Apiary Regulations, we have decided to re-
open the revision process of these specific regulations by holding an
additional stakeholder meeting and public comment
period/hearing. The goal of this additional stakeholder meeting is to get
input on the attached current revised draft form
of the regulations. Note that these regulations have been revised using the
public comments provided from the 2017
stakeholder meetings and public hearing.
This additional stakeholder meeting has been scheduled for the following
date, time and location. We hope you can join
us for this meeting.
Monday, February 12th, 2018
2pm-4pm
Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Building
Room 108
1 Rabbit Hill Road
Westborough, MA 01581
Some things to note about this building…..
Quiet and Security. Please advise that you will be attending a meeting in
an office building where 45-50 biologists are
working in an open floor plan above the atrium. This is working office
building and not a conference center, but guests in
the atrium have no way of understanding this unless you advise them.
Participants should remain in the meeting room,
minimize the time spent in the atrium, and speak in an undertone when
possible. Guests should also refrain from
venturing through the building beyond the restrooms unescorted. If a
private conversation is needed, the persons should
step into an empty room off the atrium or go outside, which is where
cell-phone calls should be made and taken.
Check In. Please check in at the front desk when you arrive and the clerk
will direct you to the meeting room, which is
on the first floor off the atrium.
Parking. There is a parking field outside the building, but parking is
always a weak spot, so please carpool if possible.
You can also meet up at the park-and-ride at the corner of Oak and Milk
Streets (right on Route 135) and ride up the hill
in one car from there (2 minutes away).
Best weekend wishes,
-Kim
